Video: Epson Stylus Photo 1400 With CIS = Awesome

Epson Stylus Photo 1400 – Continuous Inking System

Just say no to buying cartridges – video below is of our Epson Stylus Photo 1400 6-color inkjet printer hooked up to a CI system.  We have been using it for about 8 months and it is still on the original “pre-filled” ink that was supplied with the system.  We do not have an exact count of the number of prints we have gotten from this system, however since it can be used to print anything from 4×6, 8.5×11, legal, on up to 13×19 max size, we are starting to use it much more often, and would estimate we have gone through about 1k pages at least.  Plus, you can’t argue with what it costs to refill the CIS reservoir (about $35.00 for all 6-colors).

Spring for good paper*:

Print quality is great, but take our advice and spring for some good quality paper for your photos.  We were having color and fading issues with the cheap as dirt (Sepoms) glossy photo paper (which is fine for short term uses – 6 mos.), but we have since moved up to the Red River PaperArctic Photo Gloss (very nice @ $1.28 per sheet) to print our “keeper” photos in 13×19 sizes.  If you do decide to order from Red River, use coupon code “tweetship” for free shipping on your order.
